Product Description

This photoelectric smoke alarm has a sealed lithium battery lasting up to 10 years, so there are no battery swaps and no midnight low-battery chirps for up to a decade. Put it on the ceiling and forget about it.

✨ Meet the Star Ring

A smoke alarm that looks like design, not hardware.

Most smoke alarms are bulky plastic domes you try not to notice. The Star Ring takes a different approach. A slim open ring frames a compact satin-silver sensor that seems to float at its centre, held by a single fine arm.

Because the middle is open, your ceiling shows through, so the alarm reads as a minimalist fixture rather than an appliance.

It's at home in modern living spaces, architectural builds, and anywhere you want safety without compromising the look of the room.

Star Ring Smoke Alarm Design

Why photoelectric?

Photoelectric sensors are especially good at picking up slow, smouldering fires, such as a couch, bedding or electrical fault. These are the fires that often start while you're asleep.

Fire and Emergency NZ recommends photoelectric alarms for New Zealand homes.

FAQ's

Do the Interconnectable alarms connect using Wifi?

While you may see interconnectable smoke alarms sold as Wi-Fi compatible, most interconnectable alarms do not use or require a Wi-Fi connection. They are connected using a Radio Frequency (RF) Transmitter.

The neighbour has the same alarms will they interfere with each other?

While all the alarms use the same frequency (433.92MHz), they are uniquely coded to each other via the master fire alarm when you first set them up. So don't worry—your neighbour won't be setting off your alarms!

How far apart can I place the alarms?

You can place the alarms up to 20 meters apart between in each alarm within a range of 100 meters. Large objects like thick walls will slightly effect this range.

Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years.

Not exactly. While most alarms state 10 years on the box, this depends on several factors, like how many times the alarm goes off / alarms are tested, as well as ambient temperature. So, to be more precise, the alarm batteries will last up to 10 years.

Regular testing is always advised, and a low battery warning will activate to let you know when replacement is required. PSL Fire & Safety offer a 5 year warranty on all 10 year smoke alarms.

You sell a remote control what does that do?

The remote is purely for testing the alarm rather than pressing the test button on the alarm, which is inaccessible to many people. The remote is NOT required to set up the interconnectable alarms.

Where should I install the smoke alarms.
