1. Do the Interconnectable alarms connect using Wifi?

While you may see interconnectable smoke alarms sold as Wi-Fi compatible, most interconnectable alarms do not use or require a Wi-Fi connection. They are connected using a Radio Frequency (RF) Transmitter.

2. The neighbour has the same alarms will they interfere with each other?

While all the alarms use the same frequency (433.92MHz), they are uniquely coded to each other via the master fire alarm when you first set them up. So don't worry—your neighbour won't be setting off your alarms!

3. How far apart can I place the alarms?

You can place the alarms up to 20 meters apart between in each alarm within a range of 100 meters. Large objects like thick walls will slightly effect this range.

4. Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years.

Not exactly. While most alarms state 10 years on the box, this depends on several factors, like how many times the alarm goes off / alarms are tested, as well as ambient temperature. So, to be more precise, the alarm batteries will last up to 10 years. Regular testing is always advised, and a low battery warning will activate to let you know when replacement is required. PSL Fire & Safety offer a 5 year warranty on all 10 year smoke alarms.

5. You sell a remote control what does that do?

The remote is purely for testing the alarm rather than pressing the test button on the alarm, which is inaccessible to many people. The remote is NOT required to set up the interconnectable alarms.

Great DIY smoke alarms

These alarms are reasonable price. You can have heat alarms in the system for Kitchen and Bathroom. They can be installed DIY. The only negative is the 50second time frame for interconnection means that for a FENZ recommended set up, there needs to be more than one person pressing buttons. Really like them.

Hi Bruce, if you lay the smoke alarms out on a table and conenct them there then one person can connect them, the key is remembering which alarm is the master.

Initial contact and enquiries very pleasant and polite. Sales and after sales service was excellent. Product set up (3x Units) easy. Product delivery very fast. I highly recommend dealing with PSL and will do so in the future. At this point in time, apart from testing the units have not been needed, Thankfully.

Newly bought home needed smoke and heat alarms

Chose the interconnectable 10 Year Smoke and Heat alarms and a remote. Had the Fire Brigade to install them as neither of us can do ladders anymore. All went well, only one was tricky and lost its pairing but was easily reconnected. Remote very handy to check and hush. Still, quite an expense to upgrade.

Functional Design

Nice to look at, and discreet on white ceiling.
But. Test/Hush button is hard to operate without going to top of ladder.
Would be better with toggle button (like power switch) You could then use a broom handle or similar to test. ask the maker?

Great knife that came with a pouch to attach to your belt. Very sharp, made of good quality and has a glass breaker and seatbelt cutter.

Easy installation

Well worth paying the little extra for. We have high ceilings and the magnetic plates made it so much easier to install instead of having to drill holes.
Only installed about a month ago, so I’m unsure how long the tape will last. It seems super strong though.
